Discrimination / Sexual Harrasment

Both the state of Missouri and the federal government prohibit discrimination, and depending on the facts involved and individual may have a forum choice.  If you sue in state court you will make your claim with the Missouri Commission on Human Rights.  If you sue in federal court then you will sue through the Equal

Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

An individual can be discriminated against due to their gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, pregnancy, marital status and mental or physical disabilities.  Sexual Harassment is also a form of discrimination.

Employment discrimination is a bias occurring at your place of employment and can be damaging economically, mentally and physically.  Discrimination can occur at work in the following ways:

- Not being promoted, passed over

- Being fired

- Being demoted

- Getting suspended

- Sexual Harassment and abuse

*(Being a member of one of these protected classes may not be enough so you have to look at all of the surrounding facts).

Sexual harassment is a form of discrimination which can affect someone of either gender and any sexual orientation.  Sexual harassment can occur through solicitation of sex, sexual advances, verbal abuse, comments on physical appearance, comments about one’s body, physical touching or threats.  If any of the following have caused you problems at work, caused discriminatory acts to be done to you or caused you suffer emotional or physical distress from a hostile environment at work, then contact an attorney immediately.  I understand how sensitive an issue this is and how problematic it can be in one’s life; this is why I want to help you.
